Einfach so wird der eigentlich unpolitische Hassan von einer Straße in Paris in einen pakistanischen Folterkeller verschleppt. Die amerikanische Regierung hält ihn für einen Terrorverdächtigen. Ingesamt drei Jahre wird er von den Amerikanern gefangen gehalten, bevor er als anderer Mensch das Gefängnis verlässt. Die Zeit in Haft hat ihn radikalisiert und traumatisiert. Er sinnt auf Rache an denen, die ihn gequält haben und seinen Bruder getötet haben. Als Ingenieur geht Hassan nach Amerika und taucht bei einer einfachen Einwanderfamilie unter. Dort bereitet er unauffällig einen terroristischen Anschlag vor.
